Malaysia, the world's biggest supplier of copper powder & platinum clad metals

Malaysia is the largest market for copper powder and platinum clad metals. It is the biggest exporter of copper powder and platinum metals. Malaysia import export data suggests that the country has exported over $864 million worth of copper powder during the financial year 2022. China is the most preferred market for Malaysia's copper powder exports along with Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India and Taiwan. 

According to Malaysia export data, China was responsible for 85% share in Malaysia's overall copper powder exports. China made over $700 million imports of copper powder from Malaysia. Whereas, Japan and South Korea were responsible for 5% and 4% market share respectively.


On the other hand, Copper alloys exports were merely $20 thousand during the financial year 2022. Singapore was the only destination for Malaysia’s copper alloys exports. Whereas, the overall copper exports from Malaysia were totaled to be $3 billion during FY 2022.


China and Bangladesh were the two biggest markets for Malaysia's copper exports, having over 52% & 28% respectively. Also, there were some notable amounts of shipments made to Pakistan, India, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Indonesia. Metrod (OFHC) Sdn Bhd, Mettube International and Luvata Malaysia are the leading copper products suppliers from Malaysia.


In terms of Copper powder imports, Malaysia imports were estimated to be around $15 million for the fiscal year 2022. Taiwan, Singapore, the United States and Japan are the prominent copper powder suppliers to Malaysia. Whereas, copper alloys imports were recorded to be $2.5 billion during FY 2022. Australia and Indonesia are the top two leading copper powder suppliers to Malaysia responsible for 60% share in Malaysia's overall copper powder imports.


In terms of platinum clad metals exports, Malaysia's platinum clad metals exports were estimated to be around $325 million during the financial year 2022. Malaysia customs data reports suggest that Malaysia's platinum clad metals exports were mostly to Japan which had a share of 98%. 


Whereas, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Brunei and Singapore were other major notable importers of platinum clad metals from Malaysia. Although, Malaysia’s platinum clad metals exports declined significantly.


On the other hand, Malaysia import data suggests around $2 million worth of platinum clad metals imports were made by Malaysia in FY 2022. Malaysia’s most preferable markets for platinum clad metal imports were Taiwan, United States and Japan.
